Therapy for LGBTQ+ Adults and Teens

You feel like no one really understands you.
You’re afraid to show your true self to your family and your coworkers. You’ve spent so much time hiding parts of who you are that you’re not sure what it feels like to be fully seen.

Maybe you’ve been told that you’re “too much,” “confusing,” or “just going through a phase.” Maybe you’ve heard those messages so often that they’ve started to echo inside your own mind. You tried therapy before, but it felt invalidating, and you didn’t get the support you were looking for.

The truth is: you don’t need to change who you are. You just need a space where you feel safe enough to show up as your whole self.

Maybe you’ve experienced the following…

  • Anxiety, depression, or burnout

  • Isolation

  • Religious trauma

  • Internalized shame

  • Gender exploration

  • Struggling with relationships, dating, or boundaries

  • Difficulty finding support that’s inclusive and non-pathologizing

At Wandering Pine Wellness, we offer LGBTQ+-affirming therapy for teens and adults. Here, you don’t have to explain your identity, defend your pronouns, or shrink yourself to feel accepted.

Whether you’re carrying the weight of rejection or discrimination, navigating shifts in yoour identity, or looking for a place to process trauma, therapy can help you feel more grounded, confident, and connected.

You Deserve to Be Fully Seen

You Deserve to Be Fully Seen

We understand that your mental health is shaped by your lived experience—including the pressures, risks, and exhaustion that often come with being queer or trans in a world that doesn’t always affirm who you are.

It’s not your identity that causes distress—it’s the rejection, erasure, and judgment you’ve faced.
You weren’t born feeling “too much.” You were taught that by people who didn’t take the time to understand you.

Our therapists bring a trauma-informed, intersectional lens to therapy. Whether you’re seeking therapy to heal old wounds, processing day-to-day stressors, or just vent, we’re here for you.

Meet Our Therapists

FAQs

I’ve had bad experiences with past therapists. How is this different?

Unfortunately, many LGBTQ+ clients have worked with therapists who were untrained, invalidating, or even harmful. At Wandering Pine Wellness, we believe you deserve care that affirms your identity, respects your autonomy, and meets you with curiosity, not assumptions. While our therapists have formal and informal training (and experience) working with LGBTQ+ clients, we also recognize that you are the expert on your own life.

Is this therapy private and confidential?

Yes. We follow strict confidentiality guidelines and we don’t share your information without your written permission, except in rare cases required by law (like safety concerns). If you're a teen, we’ll go over exactly what we can and can’t share with your caregivers. Your insurance company will also ask about your diagnosis, and may request more information from time-to-time during audits. Our therapists have been trained to write notes that both meet insurance requirements, and also protect your privacy and confidentiality.

Do you write letters for gender-affirming care?

Yes. A couple of our therapists provide documentation for gender-affirming medical care using the WPATH standards. We aim to make this process supportive, affirming, and efficient.

Do I have to talk about my gender or sexuality in every session?

Not at all. Therapy is your space, and you get to decide what we focus on. Some clients want to explore their identity in depth; others just want a therapist who “gets it” so they don’t have to explain themselves. Both are welcome here!

Can I talk about other stuff? like stress, trauma, or work?

Absolutely. Many LGBTQ+ clients come to therapy for reasons beyond identity. Things like burnout, anxiety, grief, trauma, relationship challenges, chronic illness, etc. We bring an affirming lens to all of it, so you don’t have to filter out pieces of who you are.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes. We offer virtual sessions for clients living in Nevada, Washington, and Colorado.
